This desire is for acceptance, belonging
and community. Internally it’s the sense of self-acceptance – of
just being OK with yourself. Externally it’s the sense of being
part of a community, and of being empowered to joyfully
contribute to that community.
The fundamental pain associated with this
desire is shame – the feeling that there is something wrong with
us. We can also feel ‘heartsick' - the feeling that there is
something wrong in the external world, which we experience as
our own pain.
As people move towards fulfilling this
desire, they can develop an increasing acceptance of their
physical body, acceptance of their emotions, needs, desires and
thoughts, and even greater acceptance of their history and past
actions. This naturally leads to better self-care and
appropriate attention to your own needs in relation to others.
As this self-acceptance moves out into your sense of yourself in
community, it develops into greater ease in being seen and
expressing yourself in the world. This also includes a greater
willingness to receive from others and to experience pleasure.
Paradoxically, improved self-care and a greater willingness to
receive from others actually leaves you more empowered, more
able to contribute to your community and to make a difference in
the world.
With an increasing sense of acceptance –
both of oneself and of the world – people often find that
healthy weight loss becomes a natural process. Chronic
inflammation may begin to clear up and mysterious physical
symptoms may ease.
When this desire is fulfilled, a person can
feel a profound sense of self-acceptance and acceptance of the
world as it is. Surprisingly, you may discover that you become
more empowered to express yourself and to make a difference in
the world – in ways that are supportive of yourself and
empowering for those around you.
Client Experiences
"Oh, Rachel,
what adventures I have been having! The last time I saw you we
worked on being seen/seeing, and I have been having a
revolution. It feels like we hit the mother load. I am awed. I taught three days in a row at the dojo
(karate school), all of which went spectacularly well. I stayed
present, did not fight myself while teaching, had no panic, was
able to be relaxed and responsive appropriately in the moment.
Wow!!!"

"In that moment I was able to verbalize something that I
had been feeling but hadn't told anyone before. I had all
kinds of negative ideas about sex that I picked up early on during my
childhood and they kept running through my mind every time I
was with someone... My experience brought me to a whole new
level of self expression that is not just limited to sexuality,
but carries over into every aspect of my life."

"As I acknowledged
those past emotions and experiences, my physical symptoms
began to alleviate themselves. My periods have finally begun
to regulate and I have entered into my first intimate
relationship in a long time."
